1 - READ THE WORD
God protects us
"The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore."
2 - Reflect
I didn't know how to answer Him. My friend came to my house, I told him about what happened at work, and he listened to me in silence. I told him about my family, about our rowdy lunch, about minor arguments with my brothers, and the jokes we exchanged. He listened to me in silence. After a pause in my story, when I opened up waiting for him to speak, and looked into his eyes, he told me of his worries. About how his mother was possibly very ill and it could be very bad, and he was very upset by it. I didn't know what to say, how to cheer him up, I didn't have the answer. But the answer was not mine.
God is the one who protects our life from all evil, drives away worries and sustains us when there are obstacles in our path. I could only offer that we pray together, united in prayer, two friendly hearts, brothers in the faith, asking the Father for protection. He was comforted, and I knew we had done the right thing.
We often go our own way in life feeling orphaned, without being orphaned. Opening our hearts to the Lord, letting Him take us in His arms and joining Him in our path, is what will bring peace to our hearts. Prayer is the way, and our Father who always listens to us, protects and guides us.
